Father Breen:
Sadly we report on the death of Fr Breen who passed away after over a week ago in Galway Hospital.  Fr Breen who was the curate of Recess for the past 17 years was a very special man.

Although he was in constant pain and had to use a walking aid in the latter years it did not take from his day to day running of his churches and his attention to his duties. His Masses were special and he loved to sing along with the choir.  He was well known for his monthly Padre Pio meetings and for his annual pilgrimage to Lourdes which he arranged for the people of Connemara.  After a special mass in Recess for him his remains were taken to his native Omagh in N. Ireland   May you rest in peace Fr. Breen

Fr John McCarthy:
Our Parish priest Fr. John McCarthy who is due to retire in June has the responsibility of the running of the whole parish on his own at present. There are four churches which must be covered so slight changes will take place for the different Mass times which Fr Breen was responsible for.

Tourism:
Roundstone reported a busy week-end with O’Dowd’s, Eldon’s and the Shamrock saying there was a big improvement on the amount of people around so hopefully this is a little taste of better things to come.  Easter is early this year with Easter Sunday falling on April 4th sometimes this is good as it gives people that little push to put winter behind and to think about holidays.
