Roundstone Dog Show:
What started with a very wet morning, turned out to be a very successful day? All the results of the classes will come at a later date, however, Paddy the Yank true to form put on a very good show. I think it also has to be said that the success of the show was really down to an enormous amount of effort by local volunteers to ensure the smooth running of classes. A wonderful family day out, there were a lot more activities for children, including bouncing castle, go-karts etc this year. This is where our focus needs to remain, to ensure we nurture our community based spirit and make the day a great family outing for everyone with their pets. The two judges were Dr Gerry McCormack, Dave Regan with the chief Steward Sir Roger Thomas. Our thanks to Meg Gordon for supplying the food for the hospitality Tent.

Memorial Mass and Blessing of the boats:
Father Jarleth has agreed for the Sunday of the 15th August which is the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, who is known as Our Lady, Star of the Sea, from which a special Mass will be said down by Harbour Wall at six pm with the blessing of the Boats, the Harbour and its people, at the same time we will remember all those who lost their lives at Sea, and to those that enjoy and work on the Sea.

FAS:
I gather that the adjudication for the Tidy Towns 2010 for Roundstone has now been done, and let us hope for really high results this year. The FAS team who have been with us for a considerable amount of time, with the help of the Galway County Council with the supervision of Donal Nee, who is responsible for Roundstone and Clifden. What an enormous contribution the FAS team have made in Roundstone, enhancing the beauty of our unique and picturesque village over the years. They have worked so hard, with our tidy towns committee to ensure our village is looking its best for the summer season. Many thanks for all their hard work. It also has to be said our thanks to Tony Loughan and Joe Acom McHugh who have 2 days a week to keep our bins clear within the village and without their vigilance god only knows what the village would look like?. Thanks a lot Guys
